There is a confusion over this as I found recently. If you have purchased a laptop preinstalled with windows 8 then this option will not work. The .iso is for Win8 pro purchased as an operating system where a key is required. In preinstalled systems where the user has mucked up you really need to make the restore disks immediately. This is a pain if you have installed loads of apps so ensure a backup has been made at each stage. The OEM key is....an OEM key and that key will fail. Just out of interest the OEM install key can be found in Speccy or Belarc Advisor, but that key will fail to activate because of its OEM license. Therefore it is of paramount importance to back up your OS after you have everything up and running. This is the newest Macrium edition: Macrium Reflect v.6 is now available for download and this will cover win 10 also and make better and quicker recovery options.

I thought the OEM key was embedded in Win 8 and therefore programs like Speccy and Belarc couldn't detect them?

Available in all versions, and languages. And should work with OEM keys (as Vista and 7 does) Attachments:

I stand corrected it would seem. And yet on a network of Win 8 computers which were downgraded to Win 7 by the IT guys that supplied them, the Admins version of Belarc couldn't find them neither could SIW or Speccy in order to get them I had to use RWeverything to find them? ? Confusing!

Belarc: I have tried installing win 8 .iso with that key and it is rejected because it is not a retail edition....times have changed! And yes, is confusing but more to the point bloody annoying!!
