Ok, here it goes.
As you know I'm not really interested in WinX, but when it comes to Microsoft one ugrade often leads to another. So I thought it would be a good idea if I got WinX registered and all for my main machine too.
My main machine runs Vista, but it was originally a Win7 machine (I downgraded).
In order to get the upgrade to winX I need to upgrade back to win7.
Piece of cake, right?
When I got the machine I imaged it using Macrium, so I could easily put back Win7 if I wanted to. At least that is what I thought ...
When I put it back it won't boot as there is something wrong with the bootthingy Macrium restores. It's just not there. Bummer.
But I have the original key, so I could put that in, right?
So I used one of the dvd's I made from an iso, but once installed it won't let me put in the key. It starts with three zero's and it keeps telling me that is an unrecognized character.
So how do I get this Win7 registration in order? Ughhhh MS. Why is it always so messed up?

Restored a Vista image so I had a working pc again, so I can't tell you if it showed or not.

If it booted to Vista, then you have the original Vista install. You have the 7 upgrade? Then this should work but I have doubts whether a ten would be successful. The key should be a working one connected to the machine

Got it all in working order. Don't know why, but when I gave it another try and did a clean install of 7 over vista after three or four tries all of a sudden the registration 'caught on'. So then I gave 10 a try and what do you know? It worked too. Saved the tokens for all three installs and imaged the lot, so i can have any OS I want LOL. And what do I want? Oh, that's simpel - my trusted Vista
