I have been on and off the forum this past week due to various things going on new place/area, setting things up etc. But I have also been attempting to build a Linux Distro (easier said than done I can tell you), however, I can announce that the Alpha version of my new creation is ready for testing (and I really need the feedback on this).
I have done a little testing on an old Toshiba Qosmio laptop and the results were...well, let's just say "There's some potential". Issues I've been encountering are the network tools problem, for some reason I cannot/have not been able to get internet access either hardwired or wireless (this could however be due to the older hardware I'm using), so if anyone is interested in testing this installable Live Linux distro I would very much welcome the feedback.
What's inside the distro?
It should have the option for :
Alsamixer Audacity
Blender Brasero
ClamAV Gimp
ddRescue gparted
ImageMagick Inkscape
Mozilla Firefox Mozilla Thunderbird
Pidgin Networking Tools
Rythmbox Scribus
Sleuthkit Testdisk
VLC Wine
Wireshark WxHexeditor
Compiz (subject to removal as possible graphical conflict)
and many other varied tools.
As this is an Alpha build some functionality may not apply!
If you're interested in testing you can download the Live ISO (if link doesn't work please let me know)

Neil I'm up for it. Took 2 attempts to download the .iso but got it. Happen to have this as going workhorse: tgigeeks.boards.net/thread/1372/sale-acer-travelmate-2480I have an Acer TravelMate 2480 which I took in P/x. Refurbished by me. For an everyday bit of kit to surf the net or email is perfect. Running in XP Pro sp3 but will run most versions of Linux (32bit) of your choice. Upgraded to 2gb ram (max) 80gb HDD Minor scratches to lid, otherwise in very good condition. New battery. Intel Celeron M 440 / 1.86 GHz: Mobile Intel 940GML Express 1280 x 800 ( WXGA ) display DVD re-writer. It is 32 only but I'll give it a whirl. Have a backup. If Atlemos OS goes berserk on the Acer then I would just put another linux distro on it. No big deal. If Atlemos boots and works I will send you info / screenshots. Most important, Network, ethernet and wireless. Generally linux normally sees the ethernet. Will report back!

Hi Mike thanks for giving it a whirl but I've decided to discontinue that distro due to graphical and firmware incompatibilities but will be uploading a new version much smaller (about 450MB) as it's easier to figure through and add as needed. Will make a new thread on this.
