Hello.
My name is Brother Jaso. Hewlett Packard 2000, AMD E-3000 APU w/ Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.30 GHz, 2GB RAM, 64-bit OS, x64-based processor, 224 GB HD, Windows 8 Version 6.2 (Build 9200)
I'm using Kodi 16.1 Git: 20160424-c327c53
First I tried blocking Kodi from the firewall. (RBST reboot, same thing.) Then I tried 'Un'enabling with blocking still checked. (RBST) The only place I found Kodi was in inbound rules. Then, I tried 'un'enabling the default remote control in service settings and event/debug logging under system. (RBST) Then I deleted the two inbound rules altogether. That brought up a prompt the next Kodi boot saying something like.. it had to checkmark boxes to enable public and something else access, or something. I unchecked the only one that was checked. (RBST) I'm not finding any related Kodi services in WinPatrol nor AutoStart ProgramViewer. I'm looking at Glasswire now. Kodi keeps popping back up every 30 seconds or so.
Is there another Windows route to tell Kodi to stop 'phoning home'? I thought I had right clicked in uninstall programs once, and it took me to a prompt to disable it calling home. Repeating that just gave uninstall.
OK. Thank you very much! Brother Jaso

Try disabling it in Services (if it shows there)

Nothing Kodi nor XBMC-Foundation in services.
Also, just tried:
Control Panel, Network and Internet, Internet Properties, Privacy,
Sites, (entered site 'feeds.kodi.tv', always block, OK), reboot.
Nothing.

Went back to sites to verify, noticed Managed websites Domain showing, "kodi.tv" instead of feeds.kodi.tv
Also noticed it changed to that, prior to reboot, as I entered it initially. (Maybe it assumed feeds?)

Already tried AutoRuns. It's weird, when I ran it earlier (from the taskbar), it called itself AutoStart ProgramViewer. Then, when I opened it from the folder it's in, it changed back to AutoRuns.
I tried Windows Firewall, Allowed Apps. But after checking the Kodi box, Change settings is still ghosted. Then I go to Details... which prompts, Edit an app, Network types, and there's two checkboxes, private and public. The public always comes up check marked. If I uncheck it, the OK button becomes ghosted and cancel is the only option. (This was the same thing Kodi prompted me with on that boot earlier, allow access public or cancel.)

I like Revo. It made less registry cleaning than the normal Windows way. But, alas, after reboot(s), still not working.
Kodi seems to be creating new inbound rules on the fly. (On boot)
Thank you for the suggestion.

Kodi Settings level has to be on expert, first off.
Kodi, System, System, Settings, Internet access has proxy server port identification. It's disengaged, I tried engaging it and using an adhoc port number. But,it changed it right back after reboot.
Kodi, System, System, Settings, Power saving (check box) wanted to wake up remote servers on access.
Kodi, System, System, Settings, Logging (check box) wanted to Enable event and component-specific logging.
Kodi, System, Services-Settings, Web Server wanted to allow remote control via HTTP.
Kodi, System, Services-Settings, Remote control wanted to allow remote by programs on this system.
Kodi, System, Add-ons wanted to always update and (check box) Notifications.
Kodi, System, Music-Settings, File lists wanted to Search for thumbnails on remote shares.
Kodi, System, Music-Settings, Audio CD's wanted to Load audio CD information from online service.
Kodi, System, TV-Settings, Recording wanted to Display a notification on timer updates.
Kodi, System, Video-Settings, Library wanted to download actor thumbnails.
Kodi, System, Video-Settings, Playback wanted to Activate teletext.
Kodi, System, Appearance-Settings, Skin wanted to Show RSS news feeds.
Some of those may not be seeking out, there's a bunch of auto update checkboxes for a plethora of add-ons. But the sidebar feature blanket un-box-checks them all.
I'm thinking about contacting Kodi.

Letter to Kodi
Hello. My name is Jason N**l. (Win8.0,HP2000)
Are you guys a part of MS? (I noticed WinStore, I think, in one of Kodi's folders.)
I love your product. I've been using it since 16.0 and use it as a replacement for WMP as a stand alone playback device.
I'm not trying to do any streaming, although it would be nice if ya'll made an MP4/AVC Moove Atom converter as an extra option for future versions. My question is,
How do I tell Kodi not to talk online, if I'm using it while connected to the internet?
I have GlassWire and see it communicating with either 1 of 3 addresses. (XBox being 1 of them, which is why I was asking if ya'll were a part of MS.[+WinStore?])
Also noticing Windows Firewall features unresponsive, as far as blocking or deleting inbound rules. Kodi simply creates or bypasses this somehow. Another anomoly I've noticed, the freshly booted Kodi wants allow private &/or public access with 2 check boxes. If I uncheck it, the 'Allow Access' button becomes ghosted. More puzzling, there isn't a third button, 'Deny Access'.
Just wondering how to end online communication as I'm usually heavily using resources with this small footprint machine.
Thank you very much! Jason

Unfortunately "Kodi" appears to be one of those programs which installs itself so deeply into the operating system that to do away with the program requires a Clean Install of the complete Operating System.
If anyone on our Forum knows more about the Kodi program, then I feel sure they will reply.

If you are using it only as a playback device, I would suggest ditching it, and use VLC instead.

It depends. Sometimes I will use VLC. But, I'm liking Kodi for it's stability and audio prowess. (VLC tends to show video artifacts from time to time. I never have that with Kodi.) Kodi 16.0 had a hard time searching for it's playback position, even crash, but not 16.1. The audio always sounds better on Kodi too. Yes, clean install. Oh, hey Raphoenix! I didn't even recognize you. Good to hear from you. Thanks for the information. You know, you are absolutely right about the clean install. Kodi 16.0 was acting accordingly to firewall rules. It wasn't until 16.1 that it started misbehaving. So, I tried reinstalling 16.0. But, same thing. (Maybe because I installed 16.0 after already having tried 16.1), which tells me yes, clean install. (I thought you had meant clean install of Kodi alone, at first) I spent some time last night trying to complete operation baffle, where I change folders, names, move files, change settings, etc. This Kodi is a pretty tight program. (Although I did run into a tad of instability on playback search, like 16.0 was notorious for crashing)I did manage to open and change settings prior to going online and Kodi would keep it's mouth shut for that session. But after rebooting, all that work was lost because it would start talking again. Could I go back to a system image or even a restore point? Or are we talking make it like new out of the box again and reinstalling the whole shoot and match? Speaking of Revo, I snapped a screenshot of the registry entries affected by Kodi's uninstallation the Windows way. Could a registry tweak possibly cut the voicebox out of Kodi? Thank you very much! Jaso
