Hello. Brother Jaso. (HP2k/Win8.0)
Where is the disconnect option for the Listening Ports and public access to the firewall?
When I try to disconnect them, my way, I get a blue screen.
Is there a Windows way? Maybe an aftermarket 'loopback' way?
Thank you very much! Brother Jaso

Found this too.. technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897437.aspxAside from GlassWire, about 25 stock apps are LISTENING and there's no, "Disconnect Listening Ports".. "Button". The last time I went down the line and disabled each one, I inevitably came to an unhappy blue screen. I try to search online. (Maybe no one is asking these questions) When did public access/listening become a mandatory part of the os? Is this the 'hole' everybody was talking about back when it went from 3.1 to 3.5 (or thereabouts)? (mid 90's)? Is there a loopback patch or something? to isolate the communication? Wouldn't the computer, by default revert to this if it found itself beyond the grasp of remote addresses? (like on a boat or way back in the woods or deep in a cavern) (Just had a power outage while I'm writing this!LOL (Bad weather) Glasswire was the first to find an alternate connection, then the stock apps. Actually the stock listening apps didn't show up until after I rebooted the cable box/wi-fi. So, I know this machine can continue to function away from remote addresses, just don't know how to stop the services.) OK. Thank you very much! Brother Jaso

Sorry for speaking in metaphors.
Is there a way to batch block or batch loopback listening ports? When mother nature shuts down half the town, the os continues to function. If I disallow or delete stock app listening port services, the os discontinues to function. (It's the darndest thing)((lsass, svchosts, services,System, wininit))
Also found Port Query UI. (Just couldn't find Port Query and Control)
Thank you very much! Brother Jaso

There probably is but as I said before they are online OSs so cutting them off at the stem is a bit like chopping through a major artery, some functionality may / will be lost.
I don't use Win 8+ because I have no need, desire or requirement to so I cannot help with any real knowledge of cutting those things off and the implications that may arise.
My advice would be simple Choose a different OS.
Edit by LH. And good advice that is.

Thank you so very much!
Is Linux better than or equal to Amiga's superior TCP internet protocol?

Back in '90, Commodore Convention, first multimedia touchscreen computer, and a guru, dressed in like a wizard outfit, speaking to a bunch of suits, typing faster than speaking, gave an outstanding performance. Hanging out at the local computer store, even at college, they all concurred through the 90's. 10 year hiatus.. not sure, memory fuzzy, maybe something like, the os had more opportunities to flow control the transmission?? or, it could get there first?? (Not sure, just heard, I was busy doing cad, art, and stuff..) ((technically 20 year hiatus))
