Recently I updated Waterfox, which is main browser. I also run Cyberfox, Palemoon etc. Waterfox is an alternative to Firefox (I find it quicker) I allowed the update update, in this case to version 49.0.2 Jeez did it cause problems! I was unable to connect to any site. I restarted WF in safe mode, all extensions disabled. Worked OK but the bloody Ads started to reappear. For some odd reason a FF addon called BlockAds had been installed without my knowledge. Give it the proverbial elbow, it crashes every site you want to visit, knocks out web video and will EFF up access to bank sites I believe it to malware. It can be removed in tools / addons

I stopped using FF a long time ago, it became too bloated for my liking. Incidentally, I think you'll soon find that there is no point in having Adblockers installed on FF as FF sends data directly to marketeers anyway.
Just you watch. Someone will show it happening before your eyes.

Quite agree there Neil. In WF, PM and Cyberfox I am getting Adobe flash and shockwave flash stopped working. Thy are all updated. However this is happening too often for my liking. I bank online and sometimes the verification window crashes so I have start all over again. I watch a lot of catchup TV and some site are now reporting that I have an outdated version. BBC and Youtube work fine.
Other browsers are Edge(useless and ugly) Opera and Comodo Dragon, Comodo seems to be working ok at the momentbut will not play some vis, not really given Opera a full swing yet.
Will see if Opera loads my bookmarks

I just updated PM for Linux to 27.0.2 and now no edition of Ghostery will work due to the lack of SDK / JetPack or something but with Adblock Latitude sites seem to be running ok.
The old version of Ghostery I had (and loved) 5.4.1.1 worked differently to the later versions, in that if you went to a WordPress site with SSL Ghostery would break the SSL which I actually liked because it meant the SSL of that site was receiving marketing trackers, 5.4.1.1 stopped this and that broke the SSL the later versions didn't.
Is that the future of marketing strategies? to implement them directly into the SSL function so tracking can be achieved? Still, who gives a....

Ah so I'm not the only one with adobe flash and shockwave flash stopping every so often as they have to be updated again (sometimes with the same version!). It works for a few days and then I can start all over again. I have everything in FF adjusted to my needs so I'm hesitant to step over to something else.

Sarah, I'm running so many variants of FF in different guises. The transformation from FLASH to html5 is not really being dealt with....erm I think any updates in the core of the build is just not accepting flash anymore. I have so many crashes and browser lockup it is driving me insane. I bank online for many accounts and some of my 'secure' applets just fail on verification. Disabling adblock allows me to continue but still a pain

I don't use adblock but I still run into trouble with the constant need for updates on shockwave. Or rather not so much a problem for me, but I also have to do it for my mum as she doesn't dare do it. Too afraid she leaves something ticked that she doesn't want (admittedly after a rant on my part a while back, because when installing something she also installed all the crap that often comes along, making her pc so slow you could cook dinner before it had completely finished starting up!).

Hi John
I'm not a Waterfox user but they should all work the same providing they are both at the same current build, I would think the only time this would be different is if the builds were too far behind.

Good to know John, you'll just have to keep an eye on things though as FF has a history of breaking extensions when the browsers code gets updated but they're usually pretty good.

John, WaterFox will integrate from FF as it will pick up your settings. I am still having Flash and Shockwave crashes in Waterfox and Palemoon. Cyber fox seems to work: cyberfox.8pecxstudios.com/
