One thing I hate about YT is all the adverts that show up whenever they feel like it, at least that's how it seems. Sure you can use Adblockers to counteract this but what if you're running limited hardware and have to decide between a Graphics / Image Manipulation program or a Browser ( which can eat through RAM ). Very annoying when you want music running in the background ( come on we've all been there ), well here's a nifty little program that doesn't require a Browser and uses very small amounts of RAM. SMTubeSMTube is easy to install on Linux it's simply a case of going to the Synaptics Package Manager and typing smtube. *click to enlarge
Mark it for install and it should auto install all other components needed such as SMPlayer, but if not you can always install SMPlayer separately. *click to enlarge
Once installed, navigate to Multimedia and select SMTube. A box will open up from Tonvid.com from here you can type in the artist or song as you would on YT. *click to enlargeOnce you have found and selected your vid you can simply click and SMPlayer will open and play right through Ad-free. *click to enlargeJust make sure to select Help on the SMPlayer and select Check For Updates to make sure the latest YT codecs are installed.
