Hiya guys and gals,
Was wondering if this is normal ... A couple of months ago I installed teamviewer instead of crossloop and I'm quite pleased with it. However ... it worries me. For some mysterious reason it is ALWAYS running in the background and I can't stop the process. When I stop it in taskmananger it automatically restarts itself instantly. I think that's ludicrous and I want more control over it! I only use it once a month or less and I don't want it to be running anytime else without me running it! < grumble grumble grrr grrr>.
Is this normal or is there something wrong with my version of Teamviewer (did download it from a safe site and ran several virusscans and everything came up clean)? And if it is normal, how do I stop it and set it up so that it only starts when I want to use it!
Thanks for any input you can give me :)

Looks like it is loading at startup. Check in, msconfig, autoruns, and Services. There is also a setting in Teamviewers Options. It is definitely in Services. Set it to Manual. And in autoruns. Uncheck the box.

I know I can and that's why I'll always keep coming back ;)
Btw. is it possible to disable smileys completely?

I think that would be a dropdown plugin but am unsure, that would probably remove the smiley icon on the Reply nav/tool bar. However, as the site is built in PHPBB it may automatically add the smileys, Mike will know better.

Hi Sarah, just wondering why would you want to?

Hmm, some apps do show it as a SMILEY face depending on which one you select. Others have no selection capability, but use 'emoticons', that is either pre-defined in that you enter text, such as colon ( , and a dash (-) and the right parenthesis ()) or :-) and it gets converted when shown. Facebook for instance will do this. Why does it matter though? If you don't want them, don't use them?

When posting a reply there is the option to disable smiles in the smiley menu, so I can put in :) and not get all yellow :P
Just thought it would be quicker if I could set that as a permanent option, but it's really not a big issue!

Shouldn't this question be put in a new thread. As I presume it refers to this site, not Teamviewer ?

LH, you're absolutely right :) It should have been ...
@ Mike - that's what I've been using 'Disable Smiles', but I have to select that each and every reply I make, so I wondered if there was a way to make that preference stick.

Sarah, just use the post quick reply at the bottom left, no smile option there.

warlock, I always use the Quick Reply. And if you leave a space after the last word, it shows as a smiley. If you don't leave a space it doesn't. Unless Mike has changed something since the last time I tried. I hate smileys (and animations myself)

Don't leave a space after the last word.
