Looks like it needs a SATA power supply connector. If you have a free one on your PSU is good to go.
I like you call them sloths

Will need to open up the case to check - I just might still have a free one.
And it didn't occur to me to call them anything else ;)
Glad to see you're still around. I'm sorry to be such an absentee :(

Ah that is great, because I just took a look and I have no spare cable. Was wondering how much work I'm getting into, since I have two extra hardrives in there and I probably need to take them out first before I can add the new card :P But more and more often connection to my printer is lost and backup data won't write to the external drive (yes I know, I have a lot of drives LOL), so you know how I'll be spending the weekend!
And my mum lives in Germany so hurray, I can use Amazon ;)

On second thought - there seems to be a problem ...
"Operating System Compatibility: Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8 (32/64-bit); Backwards Compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices"
I have Vista ...

Ok, ta :) I take it, it will be PCI then, but I'll check it tomorrow (Opening it once a day is enough hassle - that's what you get when you build it in into the closet LOL).

Hi Sarah, Vista should pick up the card ok.
One thing to remember re USB3, good for data transfer..to usb3 devices. However it hates with a passion wireless devices, rodents and keyboards! You will find major lag with them at times, infuriating to say the least. If you have wireless devices, plug them into your usb2 ports, use USB3 only for data transfer to externals and flash drives.

Hiya guys,
Should have opened up the pc this morning (just too busy yesterday), but forgot :P And weird thing but since I've been messing around with it, everything seems to work allright again. Maybe something was a bit loose??? Will see - if it starts acting up again I will have to change it after all, so I'd better be well prepared :)
Mike, how about printers? It's not wireless, but connected by an USB cable. It's the one I'm having most problems with - After sending a print command it may take up to 8 minutes before the printer starts to make rumbling noises and the printing starts up. Used to be very fast - I'd click print and the printer behind my back would instantly start working. This morning it was pretty fast though - only a minute or two. I've inserted the backup USB drive to the frontside now - it's a tiny thing, so it doesn't stick out much.
Any advice on what would be best to keep the printer happy would be appreciated ;) Just for future reference though - as long as things work as well as this morning, I'm not getting my hands dirty <LOL LOL LOL>.

Hi Sarah, I'm interested to see if Mike has an answer to your printer problem too. I only have 2.0 ports but my hardwired printer starts it's rumbling almost immediately. It does take awhile to start the print but, nowhere near the time yours is taking. While we are waiting here is a similar problem from our old site, 2 years ago. Not Vista but, shouldn't matter. www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/printer-taking-way-too-long-to-print-in-windows-7

Hi Warlock,
Unfortunately that is no help - already did reinstall the drivers and I actually had reset the print spooler too a little while back. But the problem is not that the printer is too slow - it is that moment when I first give a print command and the printer hasn't been used that day. It is as if the command doesn't reach the printer and when it finally does, the printer works fine. After that first initial wait new print commands work like a charm. But the next day (I shut down the pc when not in use) it is the same thing all over again.
And it was like that with the USB drive too. It wouldn't show up in My Computer for the first couple of minutes and then when the icon did appear, I'd double click to open it and I'd get an empty folder and the green bar takes forever to load and then after a couple of minutes all of a sudden the green bar goes all the way and all my files and folders are accessible. Nothing wrong with the USB though - I've stuck it in the front side and now it is accessible from the very first moment, no lag at all.
