Thanks Joe (warlock) for this. The Raspberry Pi 2 is now available Joe pointed this out to me from the US link ( www.raspberrypi.org/raspberry-pi-2-on-sale/ ) as I was reading the UK link ( www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-31088908 ) So what is new about this new Credit Card sized Computer? ( appears to be at around the same cost as the original ) Well it seems the goal posts are moving pretty quickly, A 900MHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU (~6x performance) 1GB LPDDR2 SDRAM (2x memory) Complete compatibility with Raspberry Pi 1 Because it has an ARMv7 processor, it can run the full range of ARM GNU/Linux distributions, including Snappy Ubuntu Core, as well as Microsoft Windows 10. Video, gaming response has been improved, there are plenty of USB out and HDMI. Ability to run major games and windows 10 at some stage, according to above info. I'm pretty sure that our youngsters will get their hands on this pretty quickly and start coding, progging for the future, because it is that future that needs educating and protecting! In summation, I think all dads bung this little gem in the school satchel!
