Looking for a way to add icon to the taskbar to switch between speakers and headset Windows 8.1. Any help?
Rather not use any third party software.

Go to search, type in sound, open sound, then choose between speakers or headset.
Using a usb, Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 headset.

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\mmsys.cpl Right click on mmsys.cpl, select Pin to Taskbar.
or, Drag the "Sound" to the Taskbar.

Sound goes to taskbar as long as the sound window is open. Would like to pin it there to stay.

Did manage to get a shortcut to sound on the desktop, by accessing sound using the control panel instead of search. There is not an option to pin to taskbar. Would rather have it there but the desktop shortcut does work.

Can you not drag it from the Desktop to the Taskbar?

It will pin to start menu (classic shell) but will not pin to taskbar

Not going to add classic shell just for that. The desktop shortcut is sufficient. Thanks, LH and Mike.
