This was recommended on another forum I look at by an admin NiniteI haven't used it but just wondered if anyone has or knows about it. I looked at it ONCE... and I really can't remember much about my try, but I didn't 'keep' it. Almost EVERYONE of this 'automatic' programs that get 'updates', usually programs or drivers usually FAIL. At best they d/l something that the program once running determines is NOT for your h/w or machine. At worse the either break what you have or do install and update, but one that is NOT free. Overall, not worth it for me at least. Here is another for you to look at, www.neosetup.com/index.php?q=1. It will bypass all the 'crap' supposedly that is linked to an install as well. Here for instance it too shows WinRar has an update. I have an old version that works fine that I paid for. New one I'll need to buy a new license I think, but not sure, so I never update it.

Thanks for the reply Irv seems there is no way to get something clean these days. Nope. Even McAfee screwed me today. It has a 'Vulnerability Scanner' built-in. I had to remove McAfee and re-install it under suggestion of McAfee for an update problem. Had to remove everything and re-install it and THEN redo my settings. Forgot about that feature. Today it popped up, said Windows was UP TO DATE but it installed 2 programs and one failed. On was TeamViewer which I would have done once I ran it. The failed one was Skype and it said I had to do the install manually. Last one, WinRar... and of course the latest version. I opened it an it said TRIAL VERSION (40 day)... OK, restored the folder from a back-up. Bottom line, I don't TRUST any of them and to me the worst ones are the device driver 'up-date' programs.

And of course, a lot of them come with extra crapware these days. At least you have some chance of stopping that, if you manual install. I run a few old versions of S/W, and I definitely never want those updated.
