Ok, that put me on to something! The link I gave you won't work because of the space in the name of the background image. Took that out (renamed it BGIndex.jpg) and now I cán see the background image in FF, but only on the bottom. Curious LOL

Don't know why I've got white bars on the sides all of a sudden, so needs more tweaking and a better colour for the lettering, but I've got a resizable, fixed background!!!
Now I'm going to pay some attention to what you said about the scrollbars :P
And removing those white blocks and finding out how I can keep the image and the letters solid instead of transparent too.

Remove this:
class="transbox"
But keep the initial <div> tag.
So you would see:
<div class="transbox" >
After removal you should just be left with a <div> tag. This will remove the white space down the edges.

Got rid of the white sides by setting the table size to 100% instead of 90%. Now I have to find a way to get the little picture inside the table to NOT being transparent, but still acting like a png (it has shadow and a transparent background itself).

img673.imageshack.us/img673/7236/8b9zXj.pngIt's starting to look nice ;) Also need to find out how to embed the fonts - years ago found a tutorial on how to do that, but back then it was too heavy a load for most internet servers. Should be fine now, but forgot how to do it :P

Still working on the transparency issues. Want to get rid of the <div class="transbox" > and want to use a transparent background picture in a table. But how do I use a background image on a table ? A transparent colour will do the trick too. Used to know these things. Ughhh ....

Found it!!! Just use <table style="background-color:rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.5);"> in the table and it works.

So, is that the end of your problem?

Yup :) I now know how to use controlable background transparency in tables and putting tables inside tables gives a nice option for creating variation in the layout. I love it. Here is the result: www.nedlakelandterrierclub.nl/
