According to Mozilla, Thunderbird should import Outlook (pst) files. But having downloaded it, the outlook selection is greyed out, and hovering the mouse over it brings up the message "currently disabled due to bug 1175055".
Thunderbird would have been my first choice. But I do need to get my old emails.
Hi Brian Granny Q,assume you have made a pst file before you try to import.( just wondered if this might be your problem. Import Outlook information from an Outlook data file
NOTE Before you can import Outlook information, you must have already exported the Outlook information from an email account to a .pst file. If you have not yet done this, see Export Outlook information to an Outlook data file earlier in this article.
In Outlook, click File > Open & Export > Import/Export.
Thought I could import a .pst file but outlook stopped responding halfway through and only imported half the messages. So I copied and pasted the complete file out of the old computer into the new one. That did everything including the message rules.
I think with hindsight I did it in the wrong order, I should have copied and pasted the outlook.pst file as soon as Outlook was installed. As it was, I set up the accounts first, it downloaded a couple of new messages which of course I then lost when I transferred the file.
Anyway, thanks for all the help. I do sing your praises on other forums.
