I'm looking for a LVDS controller board to fireup some laptop screens ripped out of defunct machines. UK market (amazon and Ebay) just divert to many Chinese sites. The costs are not bad in general....except returns and refunds etc. Plus anything from 14-30 days delivery! The concept is simple. It is merely a 'driver' to fire up the screen with either HDMI / VGA or DVI inputs. I wondered if anyone knew of a supplier in the UK, 'off the shelf' as it were. Results I found: 98% send me to ebay and amazon sellers and at retail prices of £14.99 to 30 odd quid. I do have a Chinese supplier for this kit (@ around £3.00 a module but minimum of 25 pieces. If what I want works then I would buy the 25 +!! Basically I want to use perfectly good laptop screens for other uses, multi input, CCTV monitor etc. In use a frame would haveto be devised using MDF, a redundant picture frame etc. Any ideas please post! Below is the sort of kit, they do vary:

Well I did look at Raspberry Pi interface. I think getting one might be a good idea. The cost is pretty minimal. At the end of the proverbial day I just want it to work out of the box. I do see that the LVDS connection should / could work. I will get that option and see what happens The problem is that they are shipped from China / Honkers. They are all produced in China anyway. It is the bloody return problem when the product does not work.

Well, if you would like to use some of my money and buy the 25, that is not a prob. Just save 3 units for me.

Thank you. Remember, our 'pot' needs to be used with due diligence(!). Part of that 'pot' belongs to you (which I hold) so am not gonna throw the pot into the ocean (as we discussed by telephonic communication earlier) As we discussed there is a UK market for this 'device' but UK suppliers are just either disinterested or technically bereft of certain benefits. I have a few screens and I see a further use for them. On a business level, if the units work without issue then an initial order @ around 3 quid per unit and thence selling UK retail price @ 20 quid then that makes sense. I'm gonna make a Dr said no more Scotch decision If I wake up with a hangover then that means I hit the buy button!!! LOL! only joking

As you would be dealing with the retail side, I would only ask 10% "only joking"
