On FB. quite a bit, many people fall for this type of scam. Serves 'em right Actually a friend posted the one for the Mercedes. I took the link as I knew it was a scam and figured my F/W and A/V as well as my router protected me. When I got to the site is was 'offered' and entry AFTER I looked a promotional links for things which I probably had to accept at least one to go further. I never took these links of course. In the Mercedes case I think it 'implied' you had to LIKE and then pick your color. Only if you actually took the link would you see the offers. Like the article mentions, many of these are to get 'likes' for a page. Those pages are later changed to a local establishment where the perpetrator's build a page for and claim how much traffic it saw. Many times it isn't contracted for and someone tries to sell them the page. Still, it is a scam, and it amazes me how many post 'crap' that a simple visit to SNOPES.COM and a search would show to be false. I posted back to a friend on the one she posted about car key fobs having the signal picked up and then used to open the locked car. Snopes declared it possible but NO reports of such instances. Friend said it could happen so she wanted to warn friends... |

It even states that people moved to W8.1? ============== The main reason for Windows 8’s steep decline is the number of users who updated to Windows 8.1, which is actually offered for free to all those running the original modern OS. ============== Other reasons too given, such as users going back to W7 and even XP (but NOT to Vista). Wasted electrons if you ask me? Or was the reason to indicate that Vista had more users for the first time (also a waste of electrons) by a Vista 'fan'? |
