ok for the record this will be a two folded question. as some of you know i have a win 7 pro box that i run as a server i have all of my external drives running on that box. 1. because all of my drives are working but my fear if i update the 7 box all of my drives won't be accessible on that box after i put creators on it. hell, i don't even know if i can even do that. 2. i have all different brands of drives ie, seagate, wd maxtor and i know that 10 has problems with different brands working with it. any suggestions???

John, are you updating / upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10? (you might already know that I personally don't like Windows 10 but I run 10 pro on this lappy however I use paid for 3rd party software to enable a Win 7 experience)Windows 10 will recognise any drive attached whoever the manufacturer, a hard drive is a hard drive. Also SSD and flash will be seen exactly as they are. Creators update is quite a major update over WinX an takes a while to install and configure. If this an upgrade from how will you purchase 10? As retail? You should be able to upgrade from the WinX .iso in situ. Have a backup of your existing C: drive and ALL you docs etc backed up separately. If the pear goes a funny shape 7 can be restored. A clean install on 10 might have issues with some programs running your 7 setup, license keys but also the pain of reinstalling everything else you use. I can direct you to a very good way to get WinX Pro 64 bit, ebay.comI have had no issues at all with upgrades on customer machines, key is sent in 5 mins and link to download the .iso. THEN let 10 install Creators, a bit of time but you will then have the most up to date version
