I always used IE 11, but recently it has become very slow, and keeps freezing due to long scripts. So I changed to Edge as it was on the 'puter.
I also use CCleaner daily, but have taken the trouble to save all the appropriate cookies I need for automatically logging in to sites. There is one forum which I never had problems with on IE (and still don't), but Edge refuses to stay logged in, even if I just close the program and open it again. Edge seems to work fine on all other sites.
There is not so much control on Edge, but I have set it to accept first party cookies.
Confused.

Yes I know the answer is to use a different browser, but I would still like to know why this happens.
By the way, I have posted this question on the other forum makers' help forum. It's WebWiz.

I would test if it happens with a different browser, but am more inclined to think that it is the sites server that is logging you off. It happens to me sometimes on this site,. I use win7 Ultimate, and my main browser is Palemoon.

All other browsers work fine, I also use IE, and that's fine, so is Opera. I know others who use Edge on this particular forum have no problems either.
I also just found out that I get logged off after the "time out" period of inactivity. Though thinking about it, it might have been when the PC went into sleep mode.
I've had no problem staying logged in here or all the other websites - once you know which cookies to keep.

And so it goes on. Since changing the default browser from IE to Edge, Office Outlook 2007 no longer downloads pictures. Just get a box containing a little red cross.
Checked the settings and it is set to download pictures, also looked it up on the MS knowledge base and ran their "fix" which added a specific temp file for Outlook to use. Still nothing. Oh and I changed the default browser back to IE before running it too. Still getting the red cross.
Clearly Edge is doing odd things to this PC. What's the panel's suggestion for the best alternative? I have Opera available, but don't really find it so easy to use. Maybe I just haven't spent enough time getting to know it.
