So I used to use a Youtube video downloader which took quite a while working away in the background, luckily I didn't have much to download. But is there a decent converter where I can download just the MP3 of the video?
This may have come up once before but I can't find the thread.

GS, There was a thread here about Youtubedownloaders. Can't find it at the moment. I use YTD the free version it only does mp4. But Lighthouse suggested another that the poster used. Can't remember the name of it. Maybe LH. does.

Had a look at that one Warlock and MBAM alerted me to a PUP.Optional.Spigot.A threat which is basically listed by some as about-threats.trendmicro.com/us/archive/malware/bkdr_spigot.aIt may only be a toolbar or something along those lines but looking at some of the MBAM forums it has been listed as a possible Rootkit

Sorry, I have no others suggestions. YTD I have been using for years. Now that I'm thinking about it vids download in FLV, I convert them to MP4. You can convert to MP3 too if you want to.

Warlock as I said before its piled with hidden nasties unfortunately and as for that Cnet download, I've never been able to trust them since their downloader issues.
Thanks anyway.

I think what he recommended was a video downloader but I just want the MP3 converter. I may just have a look at some plug ins and see which one works best, thanks for trying though

Ok tried AAC and it works a treat although it took some time to figure out as the on screen options seemed to try to run a script made purely for IE which came across as a little unsettling but after playing around I managed to work things out. Simple and quick nice find Mike. I didn't have Amazon toolbar but did have some other toolbar Eurotool or something along those lines (a new one on me) also ComodoFW stopped a file change OCsHlp.dll (or near as) found in the temp folder, apparently its to do with OpenCandy another horrible toolbar, do these things just rotate when the first is denied and silently install the rest? I hope these toolbars die a worthy death However AAC is just what I'm looking for superb.

I use the free version of Wondershare Youtube Downloader to grab the video, then pass it through Xrecode2. Works a treat.
