Agree with GS. Do you have this problem? Or, is this just a want to know?

If that doesn't help, you may have to try running malwarebytes in safe mode.
Or maybe a restore point before the problem started.

spyhunter is not the answer, you may end up with more problems, also if it finds something it will ask you to pay, the second part of the scam!! EDIT: Can I ask what you may have installed / downloaded that may have caused thisVosteran browser hijack is very similar to many toolbar 'additions' seen too many times with downloads, Searchsafe, Ask, Conduit et al. Most of these attack the IE browser first BTW Can I suggest the following; 1: control panel, programs and features, look for vosteran, uninstall if found 2: In IE look at manage addons, remove if found. Redo your normal home page search engine/preference. Close IE. 3: If like me you use multiple browsers, do the same in each one, ensure you have the preference, click ok, close browser (s). This is what you should see after removal: 4: reboot system 5: Did this work?

That is good to hear!, 'aggravation' now resolved.
As I edited previously, what was the program or download that caused this? If known.
There are so many types of this I see nowadays and I'd like to list the 'baddies' as it were.
Glad it is now sorted Mike.
I will mark it as solved

It was something my daughter installed. With some game Got to watch d/l'ing games that are 'free'. Some are just 'cracked', others 'cracked' with 'extra stuff' you do not want. Wife found a site a few months ago that did some damage to browsers and search engine was changed. Only when she started her browser(s) did see notice her home page was changed and tabs were gone. I discovered that the search engines were also. She was complaining she was getting some 'odd' search results to pages that didn't relate. I looked at the game icon and it loaded an exe that was small with the name of the game. When the game was run nothing 'odd' happened but when closed the web site she got it from was opened showing others to d/l? I then looked at the folder for the game and there was a file called GAME.EXE and the linked exe was quite small. Ran the GAME.EXE and only the game ran, so the other seemed to be a wrapper that 'did' the damage to the browsers, called the game, and when the game was closed got control back to open the browser. Norton DID NOT notify of any problems installing or D/L'ing the file? I assumed the links the replaced search engines might be infected though. So I backed up my disks and got a game. McAfee DID NOT complain either? After installing I ran the game and immediately WinPatrol warned me my HOME PAGES would be replaced, did I want it? I really think WinPatrol is a great program IMHO, you should look at it ( winpatrol.com/). Stopped that from happening. Game ran and it still opened FF and my Search Engine was replaced too. Restored my drives and told my wife she can run the GAME.EXE but do NOT get any more from there. I manually restored her HOME pages and Search engine. Malware searches on both computers (mine before I restored it) did NOT find anything using a few Malware programs. Lesson learned.

I find, in general, 'most' games and also music/video conversion tools invariably come with wrappered kit. One thing to look at is the install options; EXPRESS CUSTOM Express install will also include the hidden bundles whereas custom might offer the option NOT to instal the bundles. You may have to do this up to 4 time before you actually get to install the product!! However, even here I have seen 'open candy' 'conduit' and others that can bypass this. I dislike being conned into installing software that bundles unwanted stuff, especially when it wants to change home page and search options. Nasty. As Irv rightly pointed out WinPatrol is a very useful addition to your kit. If in any doubt, always manually create a restore point before installation. Good installers will do this as part of their responsibility to the consumer. I can recommend this RESTORE POINT CREATOR if you want better control over windows option. If, like me, you regularly download stuff then getting into the habit of imaging your system is recommended also.
