Hello everyone!
Sorry I've been such a stranger! Computers are not that big of a deal in my life anymore and the dogs have completely taken over
But lately I have had to make some changes as my old computer just couldn't handle the pressure anymore, so now I'm on a WinX machine. Sure the internetexperience is faster, but that is about the only upside. I've solved some issues myself, but now I'm stuck with one that I can't change.
For communication with my mum we use Trillian (don't judge LOL). So I installed Trillian on my new computer and lo and behold it actually works! And I can even send her files, which wasn't possible on the old machine anymore as internet was just getting too slow.
BUT she can't send files to me! All the settings in Trillian are fine. I've checked them and rechecked them and it is all fine.
Well, not according to WinX as it keeps asking me permission when she sends me a photo or something like that and then I click ok and then the file hangs forever. I have to completely shut down Trillian to remove the empty file even if my mum on her side has already cancelled the transfer.
I take it is a security setting in WinX that does this, but Ican't find which one. Trillian is allowed through the firewall, so what else needs to be adjusted for this to work?
All help is greatly appreciated.
Hope you are all ok. xoxoxo Sarah

Hi Sarah hope you and mum are ok. As I neither use WinX or Trillian, I cant help you there, but I seem to recall that both you and your mum use gmail. is that correct?

Goodmorning!
Yes, we're doing fine. Hope you are ok too! I've solved it by now by reïnstalling Trillian. That seems to be a WinX thing ... Firefox had problems too in the beginning. No - square or x on the righthand topcorner. Just used revo and then reïnstalled and second time around it was ok. It also has a habit of letting programs disappear while using them. Or rather when you've just opened them. Any ones that do just uninstall and reïnstall and second time around it is generally ok. Inconvenient but alas I can live with it. I seem to have most things properly installed now including someprograms I feared I'd loose when switching from Vista to X, but no - they transfered alright and they actually work properly from the very beginning.
