We know about Google, Yahoo and Bing as standard search engines, but less known, there is Blekko, DuckDuckGo, Wolfram|Alpha and Mycroft. How about this list? www.thesearchenginelist.com/

Nice find. Could be very helpful when needing to narrow down search specifics.

I wouldn't know a good search engine from a bad one, honest. With almost any search engine you have to have something that alerts you to some bad links to take. Many use 'spiders' that will roam the web and look for metadata, links, and words. Problem is the metadata. Many sites will put words in there so they appear on a search result, like FORD on a 'porn' site. Some search engines have gotten wise to this though. Ones I don't like using, the ones 'forced on you' (if you are not careful downloading and installing some programs) and make themselves the first search engine. Me, I generally use DUCKDUCK GO, as on the right is links to use your search on other engines. If you enter 'BEST SEARCH ENGINE' in DDG, you'll find MANY lists of the best: netforbeginners.about.com/od/navigatingthenet/tp/top_10_search_engines_for_beginners.htmwww.listofsearchengines.info/www.ebizmba.com/articles/search-engines
