Hi all :)
Recently I inherited a nice HP desktop computer. Lovely, very glad with it. But only one problem ... I was asked to save all pictures and video's and other personal files for someone else. No problem ... I thought. But I booted it and got a message it's time to reset the password, which requires the old password, which no one knows!
So how do I get in this thing without a password? :P

Hi Sarah, I mentioned you in another post yesterday:) Try booting with a live linux disk, and get the data off that way. You will need some sort of external drive to save it to. Depends on the amount of data.

Found some instructions online and I have a bootcd (both the "Offline Password and Registry Editor" and VistaPE). Offline Password and Registry Editor cd seems to work! Couldn't find the right keys in the registry with the Vista PE cd, but I'm in now! LOL. I have an external USB 3.0 drive I can use. Sadly not mine, belongs to the person who get's the files! Very luch looking forward to the moment I have all the junk off this PC and done a clean install. I think it will be my fastest machine to date.
