Recently had to buy a new PC, got an HP. It was running W8 and IE11. I use another forum powered by WebWiz. One of the features is to go to the last unread post. In the past on the old Sony I never had a problem with this, but on the HP it rarely works properly, taking me to some point much earlier in a thread, regardless of whether I had posted in that thread later. I have tried deleting browser history and deselected the allow website cashes etc, but to no avail. Managed to get the old Sony up and running and that still works fine. I then upgraded to W10, but kept IE11 and the problem went away - for a time, but it's now back.
Question is, do people like HP mess with IE in some way to affect this and if so is there any way to put it right. I did ask the forum software people on their help forum, but they just said they had never heard of this before and suggested some form of casheing was the problem.
I suppose I ought to try Edge on this too to compare.

Brian, what can happen with OEM installs is that the OEM 'will or might' install a 3rd party browser toolbar or two as part of a 'bundle'
IE in all my years connected to the web, IE has not been my favourite browser and in 1998 ran Netscape in preference....good old days, then!!
Caching can call up problems, but clearing them sometimes can disable the accepted cookies. In addition, some sites are not yet getting to grips with some of the code
I'd nudge Edge with the proverbial crooked elbow but of course try it and report back with your results.
I prefer to use 3rd party browsers even though they might have issues, those issues are put right pretty quickly.
Some websites are still coded in frontpage, part of the M$ experience lol and the translation is pretty poor for some people, hosts etc

I am avoiding Edge. The annoying thing with 10 is when you click on a link in an email it insists on using Edge, the alternative being selecting an alternative browser every time. The check box for "always use this App" doesn't work. I also have Opera installed which I use sometimes, especially when IE gets in a twist.

Just to give you an idea, I use Palemoon as my main browser, with Iron, and Cyberfox as backups. I don't have IE installed at all.
