The previous distro was discontinued due to incompatibilities across firmware and drivers, so I created a slim down version with just the basics.*Note, this is x86 onlyNow we have a working Network Manager applet on start up, customizable desktop based on XFCE instead of KDE.The distro is based upon JeOS ( Just enough OS ) as opposed to previous which was KDE4 based.Should now be only 500MB.Added a Graphical UI where non existed.Added in Nautilus file manager for ease of navigation.Incorporated a couple of extra Wallpapers (couldn't / can't figure out how to change the default wallpaper as yet).Packages included are :gnu_ddrescue ( for data retrieval ). gparted ( for partitioning ). Midori browser.Mozilla browser. Nautilus ( file manager ). rkhunter ( rootkit finder ). Shotwell ( image viewer ). Sleuthkit ( forensics cmd tool ). Testdisk ( data recovery ). More can be added when I have a sufficiently working distro. This an Alpha build and it is not advised to be installed as a main system. As before feedback is necessary so if you'd like to test you can download: HERE>>>Login: tgi Psswd: linux Login: root Psswd: linux This edition is a Live disc and can be burned to a CD or from a USB and booted up. It also contains a Hard Disk Image to install to disk. Also contains VMWorkastation / Virtualbox (.vmdk) compatibility.

Neil, downloaded sweet as a nut. Will install on the: tgigeeks.boards.net/thread/1372/sale-acer-travelmate-2480Will get around to this later on in the week. Still finalising the new cctv install at home. The cameras are wired BNC + power line. As I wanted better quality and a DVR I opted for this against my 'old' wireless system, which was complicated to setup with a recording system. Also much WiFi interference locally upset the view quality now and then. It is a pain running cables!! Does New Atlemos have a video screen capture? Can a linux version be apt.getted? If not I will attempt to post a video from my little Fuji pocket camera. Main testing will be surfing, sound/photo and perhaps video editing. The small install should be perfect for old (almost redundant machines) but completely serviceable for those tasks.

Thanks for the feedback Mike, I am currently looking at incorporating Recordmydesktop into the fray but am not having much luck due to the Xfce interface, will also look at Xvidcap.
But at present Shotwell is the only screen captue installed (no video).

I tried 3 time to install but all I get is the 'grub rescue' prompt. I tried to repair the boot with Rescatux which normally works but to no avail

Thanks Mike I'll look into this.
Edit: Mike I only added the Live files I could add in a Preload package but this may overwrite the Live option, I will do more exploring and testing on this but am just trying to get a working live disc before making it installable.

Update: added in Yast2 live installer however on testing I'm missing a qt GUI package so installing for now is not an option and as such I have not updated the above link.
Still haven't found a way to give a decent GUI login but am more concerned about creating a workable and adaptable live disc for repairs as opposed to a main OS.
