I use MS OUTLOOK and THUNDERBIRD as email clients for different reasons.. I prefer not to use webmail unless I need to purge stuff held on the servers. Hosting multiple accounts in OUTLOOK is a bloody pain in the proverbial (what a bummer). Also the .pst outlook backup is bloody awful, to export / import. My OUTLOOK 2016 has 3 successful accounts which I require access to
MS OUTLOOK of course part of the OFFICE installation and is used....to collect and manage email and multiple accounts etc.
CUT TO THE CHASE both are being upadated on gmail accounts only with stuff going back 3 years!
Thunderbird is an open source client much easier and usable control. In Thunderbird I run 11 accounts!!, Really simple, add account, add the gubbins, TB sets the account setting for each email account. TB can be backed up very easily via mozbak>>>>>

I've never used TB, I have it installed on this machine by default along with Pidgin but never used either.

The problem is resolved. I had to reset the pop / imap options on all gmail accounts. It is resolved but have no idea why Google started playing up. LH introduced Pidgin to me but it refuse to handle Hotmail accounts. I now use Jitsi>>>>> It does what it says on the tin. Available for Mac OS and most Linux packages.
