Can you create images to an external drive (like you can in Windows, using apps like Norton Ghost, and Macrium Reflect, et al ?

As far as I'm aware Macrium is Windows orientated, I've never tried Norton Ghost but I assume it's the same orientation. Unless you're referring to a tool like those for Linux in which case there is SystemRescueCd which has a lot of useful components incorporated

EDIT: NEVERMIND, I didn't see what SUB-FORUM this was in... sorry, but I'll leave it in case anyone is interested in a Windows solution. Feel FREE to delete it is you wish and of you Administrator's please.Ghost will do it and also to a network drive. Have to take into account these interfaces are slower though. You would be better served to save the image to a local drive and THEN move it to an external/NAS/Network drive. BTW, forget about Ghost. Last version was/is 15 and that supports W7 DOWN, not W8 or higher. You need to get Symantec System Recovery 2013. However, this is NOT carried by everyone so forget about a discount. Symantec sells it as does CDW. More info here --> www.cdw.com/shop/products/Symantec-System-Recovery-2013-Desktop-Edition-Essential-Support-renewal/2924698.aspxI got really annoyed at Symantec too as I have Ghost since 'forever'. Used to work fine with Windows updates, but I needed to buy a new version for Vista and then for W7, and again for W8 at which point they changed over to SSR 2013. I was so annoyed I tried other products, Macrium, Paragon, Easus, and SSR to replace Ghost. SSR performed the best in my estimation.

I think Mikes right on this and Clonezilla may be the way to go.
