Have to agree with the Groomer on that one, when fur gets that matted you have no choice otherwise you end up doing more harm by trying to brush/comb it out.
Besides, how does she know the dog is depressed ?
More like the Owner is embarrassed.

I agree too, but should have checked with the owner first. Owner embarrassed, yep.

Because the dog is used to a lot of thick fur he'll probably be more sensitive to being touched now and might feel insecure. It will pass as the fur grows back. And it might be there was no other way to get it done (which does no real harm, the hair will grow back), but I'd be more than furious with the groomer for not contacting the owner. They took the trouble to contact the rspca, but not the owner???!!! Shame on them.

but I'd be more than furious with the groomer for not contacting the owner. They took the trouble to contact the rspca, but not the owner???!!! Shame on them. Read on and the article says 'Simba had been in twice before I called the RSPCA, and I had said to the owner both times that he needed to be clipped as his fur was so matted My daughter does dog grooming, and has also been in this position, but has never had to ask the RSPCA for advice. She can normally tell from looking at the dog when it is delivered, and tells the owner what will happen then. Pity some owners don't understand how to use a brush on their dogs (or just can't be bothered). Maybe the title of this thread should have been Somtimes lifejust ain't fur.
