I don't think many of us here currently use(d) any tv/net devices other than direct through HDMI cables and suchlike, personally I've never been inclined to even try. Sorry mate but I can't be of any help on this one, but glad you've dug up some info to help you

No worries Guilty, the reviews told me what I wanted to know, if we want to watch UK tv we now have to use the internet due to the satellite changes, this option looks like a decent wireless way of doing it and cheap.

Have you tested to make sure your internet connection is fast enough to stream videos ?

Yes my download speed is 8.5Mbps thereabouts any time of day or night.
I have streamed with HDMI cable and it works ok.

Well, those supposedly work well. There are many variant of the same, Apple TV, Roku, DVD players, TV's, etc.
They ALL get you the same thing, nothing more, nothing less, depending of included functions.
I had a 3 year old Sony Home Theater setup. The receiver had a USB port and included an N speed USB network adapter. It had bundled apps, like NetFlix and others. Did NOT see anything of value that was free.
My new TV, a Samsung Smart TV has the same stuff and some more, as does the Samsung DVD player.
Only stuff I even use is the paid stuff, like NetFlix and Amazon.
Anything else is just like my iPad in terms of apps.
With the old system and the new TV I can also use it as a media client and grab stuff of my PC or Router which run a media server.
