Links are fine Joe but GEGeek has created a multi-tool consisting of MBAM, SAS and many AV products all on one disc without permission.

Checked with Mike before I posted. If you think it's inappropriate post can be removed. Links are all that I thought would be useful to some.

No links are fine, just this which is the issue, possibly illegal use of.

Ah, I see. I know for a fact that MBAM never released a portable version, and that there are, out there, converted versions of the free app that were made portable. But those are not supported by MBAM. So.....

Yep.
I did download the toolkit, took a while. I extracted. BitDefender and MSE went berserk with 7 HackTool:Win32 stuff.
Decided the tool is not for me, I do carry stuff on a thumbdrive which I have built and I think I will stick to that.
However, if you decide to download the kit, look in the folder and delete what you might not need or want before extracting.
For preference I rely on my own stick and not a load of D/l software in one go. Is updated at least once a week.
I don't think GEGeek created the tool with any means to apply illegal or perhaps iffy stuff just perhaps didn't look fully into the implications.
We have seen it before with the infamous 'H' boot disk.
Just my sense on the matter.
But in Joe's initial link, there was some very good info for sure!

You are totaly correct about the toolkit link you posted Mike. I did discuss it with Neil last night and what I posted should be fine to use. Did tell him if something was not appropriate to feel free to delete it with my blessing.

Joe, the link is good, no prob; there is a mine of information there. The GEGeek Tech Toolkit is a combo. Perhaps it needs an update...we could talk to them!! And: www.foolishit.com/d7ii/license/

Some programs that one does consider 'legit' can cause any protection program to think they are bad. Pick up NirSoft Launcher and it has some that will set them off. Also WSCC which consolidated the above utilities and SysInternals as well. Run any A/V or 'Adware' program and they seem to think those are 'not good'. I'm sure it is the way they go about getting the data, possibly subverting the OS itself.

Even 2 of my favourite apps (FreeCommander and Unlocker) will be picked up as "not good", because they use code that is the same, or similar to, the code that are used in viruses. They need that code to do their job properly.
So you just add them as an "exception" in your A/V program.

Well, all well and good, but is some 'bad/rogue' program assumes the name of those you are letting them in. Catch-22... Bigger problem is MBAM for instance that just changed 'methods' and versions. Can not keep the old one. It finds the stuff ALL OVER again. Got to also be careful, some A/V's do not use program name but 'action'. That is the series of code/binary commands that are very specific. Those are the worse ones to allow. Free Commander is over a year old too, but some of the better ones are, and quite stable. I use Explorer++ ( explorerplusplus.com/), just as old.
