Not sure they can catch them all? Most use Vonage numbers, starts with a V and followed by date and time. Changes on each call. Probably disposable as well. Others use the ability to put any number and ID into CallerID. Court orders might work to get the culprits, but by then they'd be long gone. I've probably gotten at least 8 or so calls like this this year. All have some Vxxxxxxxx or a CallerID name that includes 'internet', 'Windows', or 'support' in it. We also get a lot of call that when answered no one is there. Probably just an auto-caller checking to see if the number is valid. My ISP (we have cable phone from them) has a 30 number black-list I can use (and I've used them all and delete the oldest when I add new ones) and if that number comes in the first tones mimic the 'this is not a working number'. Letting those calls go to voice mail is useless and they can tell it is a real number. Hours or days later some scam or other calls us with either Vxxxxx ID or a fake one.
