OK, is there a way to 'unsubscribe' to a thread? If so, I can't find it? I didn't know you could Subscribe to a thread Irv, can you elaborate on this please.

Normally when you reply to a post then when anyone replies after you you get an e-mail notification. In almost all cases this is fine. However I replied in NEWS IN BRIEF. I now get notifications on every entry. I'd rather not see these specific ones as they no longer apply to my original posted reply. I can NOT find a way to disable the notification.

I see. If you select: - Profile
- Edit Profile
- Notifications
There is an option called Participated it's likely to be there.

How did you "invoke" the notification Irv?

How did you "invoke" the notification Irv? It seems all I need do it REPLY to an entry in a thread. This is what came in today: =========== The following threads you participated in on Tgi Geeks have been updated: SITE SUGGESTIONS: tgigeeks.boards.net/threads/recent/386News in Brief: tgigeeks.boards.net/threads/recent/15---------------------------------------- This was an automated message. To stop receiving future emails, please unsubscribe here: login.proboards.com/unsubscribe/forum/3706893/user/13/key/2Ohb7tcYoUXeXXXXXXXX=========== So it 'implied' I'm subscribed. A setting does allow me to turn this off, but NOT individually. 'SITE SUGGESTIONS' of course was for your reply to me which is good to get. 'News in Brief' of course is the continuing one but has nothing to do with the REPLY I made a few days ago and is not one I want to keep getting. If you are not getting these then your setting in EDIT PROFILE, NOTIFICATIONS, and then down the list is PARTICIPATED might be off or set to 'never'. All I'd like is to be able to turn off ones I'm no longer interest in. In some forums you can get a list of threads and have the option from there or in the thread a button to stop following or getting notifications (unsubscribe). That function appears to be missing here.

This is true Irv.
There is a Smart option coming soon but I have no knowledge as to when exactly or if it will allow for such a choice. Would you like me to ask Proboards Admins for more info on this?

Would you like me to ask Proboards Admins for more info on this? That 'coming soon' might have been there forever? I wouldn't mind you asking if it isn't too much trouble or has a cost associated with it? Hard to believe they don't have this capability, I think all forums have one way or another dealing with the exact situation?

Going through 'profiles' there does not seem to be that option, yet
Proboards are always 'updating' certain parts of the forum build but don't always advise us!!
The option / art is trawl through the plugin manager to see what is new.
There is of course the option to ask / request the admins to see if they can come up with a solution. Which I shall post later, as I'm sure Neil will also

Update from PB Support (not Admin); You can turn off Participted and just use the Bookmark option for individual Topics/Threads.
(Still waiting to hear about the Smart option)

(Still waiting to hear about the Smart option) Well I guess that would work IF I can figure out how to bookmark anything? Well I can see one in the upper right when I'm posting this reply. I'll check it, on the bottom is a status line saying "The thread in which you are posting will be bookmarked." but to me this doesn't mean much, much less I'll be getting e-mail when someone responds. I also suspect I've lost ALL others I would be following later due to a reply into it by unchecking PARTICIPATED as that turned it off for all. I'm going to send this one and see if I can even discover what BOOKMARK really does? I suspect under the PARTICIPATED it might show I've bookmarked this, but it has NOT happened right now (opened Participated in another Tab to check) but maybe it will when I send this one. Right now my 'brain' says BOOKMARKED NE MAIL ON UPDATE....

OK, BOOKMARKED on the top menu shows me this thread. Big deal if it doesn't also send e-mail?
The real test will be if I do get e-mail I guess?
